URGENT MEDICAL ALERT

Recently Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary agreed to take Motzi in as a foster dog figuring somebody would soon adopt a happy-go-lucky indoor lap dog. In fact, within a week he was tentatively adopted out, but was displaying symptoms of a health problem. The potential adopter returned Motzi to Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary and mentioned that he needed to see a vet. Well, the health issues became a life threatening emergency and Motzi was immediately taken to an emergency facility. Motzi was admitted and it was determined he had stones. Motzi needed a catheter and other treatment right away. After initial treatment, Motzi was transferred to one of Safe Haven’s regular veterinarians, Los Gatos Dog and Cat Hospital.
The Los Gatos Dog and Cat hospital estimated the surgery would cost $2000-$3000 including the rescue discount!! What happens when you are a sick dog and you have no parent? Who pays for the expensive surgery that would save your life? Well, Safe Haven stepped up again and agreed to pay for the surgery. Although, normally they would do a fundraiser first so they would have the funds available. In this case, the surgery was of an emergency, do-not-wait nature and had to be done that day.
What happens when you have complications from the surgery and the original health issue? That is, little Motzi developed a hernia during all this and would need a second operation. Los Gatos Dog and Cat Hospital stepped up and Dr. Kyle Frandle agreed to do the surgery the next day, on his own time, to “get this little guy fixed up right.” Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary (and Motzi) thank Dr. Frandle for caring enough to save this little guy.
Motzi lives on and will need a forever home with somebody that will love him into his old age. He will need a special diet to avoid the stones from coming back. He will also need somebody who is home most of the day because he needs plenty of water and needs to be let outside every few hours. If you are interested in adopting Motzi, please contact us for further information. In order to pay for his emergency care and surgery, Safe Haven needs to raise $3200.
